Exploring The Grand Canyon

by admin on February 17, 2010

There is the obvious fact about The Grand Canyon; it is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Its sight is breathtaking. It is as if though the blocks of soil were carefully placed by architecture or structural engineer. The river of more than 277 miles has snaked around the boulders of rocks and soil as if hugging it.

There are more than 5 million tourists visiting The Grand Canyon daily. The Canyon was declared a National Park in the 1919 by the government and has been preserved in its natural form. The only additions are the beautiful and luxurious hotels in the park.

The Grand Canyon is the family outing or holiday place. There are plenty of activities that you can safely engage in with your family. These including water rafting. You can book a holiday package that includes accommodation in a five star hotel, rafting boat and animal viewing. Here you will find very unique animals including the endangered California Condor and other such as the rattle snake or Gila monster.

It will take you several days to explore every canyon and the rafts. While on average most tour companies may organize a 2 hour drive through the canyon, in reality in needs much more time.

The canyon has been well preserved and has archeological artifacts dating more than 2,000 years. Its lifeline is the strong Colorado River that has faithfully run over the centuries. Without this river, the deserts in the Southern US would be completely inhabitable.

The Grand Canyon has given the State of Arizona special purpose. It is such as unique feature that will not find in any other place. You can combine a visit to the park with a few days of being in Phoenix City. The best time is the summer when the temperatures are more bearable here than other parts of the county.
