Santa Monica is small city that is located in the western region of Los Angeles, California. Santa Monica is surrounded by Pacific Palisade to its northwest, Brentwood on north, West Los Angeles on northeast, Mar Vista to the east and Venice on the Southeast. According to the census bureau, Santo Monica has a population of 87,664 in the year 2008. The city was named for Saint Monica of Hippo, which was first visited by Spaniards on the feast day.
